L is for Life.
The mysterious life of a writer is something everyone wonders about. Is it really like on TV? Author Anne R. Allen is here to answer that today.

Thanks for sharing Anne! That statistic regarding book reviews does sound rather depressing. Hardly surprising I see a lot of indie authors asking to leave reviews. As for the actual writing, I often wondered how Jessica Fletcher ever managed to get any writing done. Or did I miss that particular episode? ๐

Debbie–I don’t think we ever saw Jessica Fletcher writing, except in the intro when she was typing very fast on that old typewriter. And I don’t think we saw Richard Castle writing at all. Not that it would have made very exciting television. ๐

Thanks for sharing! I dream of being able to work my writing job all day, so that part of it sounds “exotic” to me! ๐ (Off to my day job… )

Two books every year! Crikey. That’s one big load of pressure.
Thanks to you both Anne & Ronel.

While the “Finding Serendipity” author-type life is fun to imagine, writers know that’s not nearly what it’s like.
I love stories like “Nim’s Island” that give a truer picture of what an author’s life is like.
The one thing I find the hardest to describe is the life of an author.
Yes, I’m working the hardest when I’m staring out a window, and yes, it’s excruciatingly frustrating when a book isn’t working for your. But it really is an amazing journey of the mind, and I, too, think it’s the best job in the world.

I like “Nim’s Island” too ๐ Sometimes the staring contest with the cursor is the hardest part of the day… Thanks for stopping by.

Ah, that sounds so familiar. When it’s put into a paragraph, it sounds glorious–who wouldn’t want that job? Really, I wouldn’t change for the world. RT

Thanks for hosting me, Ronel! I hope some of your readers will check out my author blog book. I talk about how an author blog can be much more fun than other kinds of blogs, because we don’t have to follow the “rules”!

My folks at work find my writing most interesting. The truth is my life outside of writing is most exciting. I can write because things happen and I meet people who are so different from each other but all fascinating.

Love it! Indeed! It seems we write for ourselves. ๐๐ค

Ronel,
Wow, what dedication! I am committed to keeping my blog life running fairly smoothly and actively. I tend to stay quite involved with it through the week, except for the weekends which is my time to enjoy life with DH. I do need to get out of my chair more than I do during the week. I need to get back to my daily exercise habits again.

Exercise seems to be the first thing to go out the window when making time to write. To make sure I can do everything I should, I don’t work on weekends (I schedule my blog posts in advance) and I take four months of the year off from online stuff. It seems to be keeping me sane ๐

I suppose TV shows about what writers really do would be pretty boring. To watch, anyway.
