Believe it or not, while I’ve put on talks at many such events, I’ve never attended one for my own writing. I have taken advantage of hotel room quiet during day-job business trips, though; I concur that the fewer distractions the better.

That’s hilarious 🙂 We should find time and the quiet to write whenever we can. Thanks for stopping by.

I love the *idea* of a writing retreat, but agree that I just want undisturbed time and anywhere will do. If I want the rest, I’ll go on holiday. But a workshop – now that could work … thanks for the multiple links. I’ll be bookmarking for a clicking frenzy later!

Thanks, Debs 🙂 I get so easily distracted, I don’t think a retreat is the answer for me. Workshops have done wonders, though.

Another excellent summary. I enjoy writer’s conferences but in moderation.

I would love to go to on a writer’s retreat. I like your tips for recreating it at home; however, it’s difficult for me to get any alone time as I have a two-year-old. I have been on a couple of writing workshops in the past that I enjoyed. I liked filling in all the worksheets I acquired.

Thanks, Tizzy 🙂 Every moment of quiet you can get to write is gold — and every moment you can spend with your child should be treasured.

I can compare your Writer’s Retreats to my scrapbook weekends. I’m going to one this weekend in fact. Two days of non-stop scrapbooking. I also go to the scrapbook Expos at least once a year. Great post and I agree with your 6 fixes because that’s what I do too! Thanks again for stopping by my blog. Nice to meet you.
