Writing groups are soooo important! I actually wrote a guest blog post on this very subject, too. Most people, when they think of writing groups, think only of critique groups. But there’s so much more to a writer’s needs than critiques!
You are so right! – writers rarely can make it alone.

Ronel,
I’ve had the privilege of meeting Alex through the world wide web of blogging. He’s a delightful jentleman. Yeah, I know not right but it sounds like the today’s letter ‘J’ so I’m JUST going with the flow. I love the idea of joining in with a writer’s group and ISWG is an excellent one to be apart of and over the years I’ve joined in a time or two. I would like to find my way back to it to learn and contribute to. Insecurities go beyond writing so this group can benefit even the non-writer to overcome something. Happy A2Zing, my friend!

Hi, Ronel. In addition to the IWSG, I belong to a local group that meets regularly on-line and quarterly as our schedules permit. It makes a huge amount of difference!
I’m here via the #AtoZChallenge. Nice post!

Thanks, Sharon 🙂 I would love to meet my writing friends in person, but most of them live all over the world.

Every time I see a post from one of the members, I keep meaning to join IWSG, but somehow I keep forgetting.

I’ve gotten all of the above from my writer’s group. Sometimes, it takes some digging and more patience, but I’ve been with them now over a decade.

Writing groups really help. IWSG is fantastic! I spent six weeks just doing “write-ins” with a tiny group at the library and it was wonderful. I hope to start another group like that in May.

Great article, Alex. Do we have a specific critique group?
Love your blog, Ronel.

Sandra, we used to have one on Facebook, but it merged with the main group.
