Back in August the lovely Kelly Griffiths nominated me for an award. I’ve finally gotten around to do my bit 😉
The Versatile Blogger Award was created to feature and recognize blogs that have unique content, high quality writing, and fantastic photos. As the Versatile Blogger Award states: Honor those bloggers who bring something special to your life whether every day or only now and then.
The rules for nomination are:
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Nominate up to 15 bloggers for this award and inform them.
- Share seven facts about yourself.
- Put the logo of Versatile Blogger in your post, displaying these rules.
Thank you for nominating me, Kelly. It’s always heartening to know that your work is being appreciated.
Seven things about me you might not know:
- I have a rooster named Sara. Goes to show that you shouldn’t name your chicks when they’re only four weeks old. (The rest turned out to be exactly what I thought they were.)
- I have a chandelier in my writing room. How awesome is that?
- I taught myself how to sew (thanks, Internet!). I’m currently working on my dress for this year’s INK gala evening (first Saturday of November).
- I love working in the garden. Though, I should stick to composting because plants seem to die whenever I plant them (despite doing everything right). My compost heap does look great, though.
- I’m vegetarian and cook (most) of my meals from scratch. Frozen veggies are a real time saver!
- Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series and Holly Black’s Tithe showed me that the Fae aren’t all like Tinkerbell – opening my world to folklore, myth and magic that I now use in my own writing.
- My fur babies all become immortal in my writing. It’s rare that a Rottweiler doesn’t feature in one of my novels to some extent. Faery Dogs rule!
My nominations:
Anna Jailene Aguilar-Van Der Merwe
I know that not everyone likes participating in awards, and that’s cool. I just wanted to share how much I like your blogs.
Sometimes getting to know the person behind the blog makes their writing a lot more interesting. I hope you’ve found the facts about me intriguing 😉
Ending with some music…
Sign up for my newsletter and receive a free ebook. I won’t share your information and I’ll only email you once a month with updates on new releases, special offers, and a bit of news.

You have a rooster named Sara! Hahaha! That’s way too cool! I wonder how my former colleague, Sara, will feel about that. Maybe I should mistakenly WhatsApp her because she was ugly to me. Kidding! 🙂
Thanks so much for the nomination. I am sure that I can come up with 7 more things about me. I’m a little narcissistic so I can talk about me all day. I hope that’s a joke… hmm…
I kill plants, too. I have accepted that my part in the growing of plants process is placement of the plants and supervision. It’s awesome enough you’re making your own dress. I used to love to change my clothes, cut them up, put them back together slightly differently then the sewing machine decided not to be friends with me anymore. I gave her to my mom. I’m generic now. All the best with your outfit. I hope to see it here on your blog.
By the way, when are we doing high tea? October might have to be November, NaNo or not.

Hi Ronel … thanks for thinking about me and my blog – I’m one of those who I’m afraid am very grateful – but fail the rest of the way with awards. Wonderful about your rooster Sara – fun. Teaching yourself to sew via the internet – brilliant … and cooking from scratch … I do that – but am an omnivore … cheers enjoy Spring – Hilary

Loved learning about you. So cool you taught yourself to sew. I took a class in school. I got a D on my project because I was not able to finish by the deadline. Better than failing completely lol.

Thank you so much for my nomination, Ronel! Choosing a fellow blogger to pass along the nomination is like picking the best candy from a sea of chocolate. So, I will simply be thrilled at being one of your nominees. A rooster with a name, and a chandelier in your writing room- that is awesome!
